Everything That Exists Is Alive and Has a Spirit

Shamanism teaches that all things are alive and imbued with Spirit. Every stone, tree, gust of wind, drop of water, and star in the sky carries consciousness — a living essence that connects it to the greater whole.

Shamans speak of the Web of Life, an invisible network of energy and awareness that links all beings. This web reminds us that nothing exists in isolation; every thought, word, and action ripples through creation. The notion that we are separate from the Earth, the stars, or the elements is merely an illusion of disconnection.

Within traditional communities, it is the shaman’s sacred role to maintain harmony and balance between humankind and the forces of nature — to listen to the spirits of the land, water, fire, and sky, and to help restore equilibrium whenever imbalance arises.

When we honour this truth — that everything is alive and interconnected — we remember our place within the circle of life and begin to live in deeper reverence with all that is.
